Having many accounts, with different passwords, can make you forget one or more of them and this may lead to serious trouble. Writing such sensitive information on a piece of paper or in a notebook can be risky because someone could find it. It may sound strange, but you can protect all your passwords with another password. Using Password Agent, you can create a database with your sensitive information which will be protected by a password and a strong encryption protocol.

You can swiftly download the package even on a slower Internet connection. It's just 1.79 Mb large and installing it will also be a fast process. The wizard won't install any additional tools and there's no malware to worry about.

Making use of Password Agent's interface is like navigating a standard explorer window. There are two general areas you will work on. In the navigation pane you can create a folder structure in order to better organize your passwords, accounts or other notes you don't want anyone else to see. The secret data itself can be created in the right area of the main window by clicking a button from the toolbar. This will bring up a small window where you can type in the account's title, user ID, note, insert a link and, most important, type in a password.

If you don't have a password yet, the program can help you create one. Clicking the small button next to the field in which you type it will grant you access to a password generator. Here you can set different parameters like password length, if it should contain numbers, letters and include upper or lower case characters. This is the quick generation method. You can also switch to a template method where you can type in a password template using four characters. "A" for uppercase, "a" for lower case, "N" for number and "O" for other symbols. For example, if you want three upper case characters, two lower case ones and a number, your template should look like this "AAAaaN". You can also opt to shuffle their order when generating the actual password. Once you are done inserting your sensitive information, click the OK button from the new account window.

Your information will be shown in a list on the main area of the interface. You can find a button on the toolbar that will mask sensitive information. When clicking it, instead of seeing an actual user ID and a password, you will only see a certain character. If too much information is accumulated, the program's search function will let you find a certain item using one or more of its fields, like password or title, as a parameter.

When creating or changing information, Password Agent will automatically save everything in its own format. You can get to your data directly by accessing the save file itself. An important feature is locking your file. You can click the Lock button from the toolbar which will close the program immediately. In order to access your information again, a general password will be required, which you must set when creating a new project. Besides that, if you leave the program idle for a while, it will automatically close, so that no one may stumble upon it.

Pros

The program can protect any sensitive information in an encrypted file which can be accessed only by providing a password. Due to its easy to understand interface, it can be used by novice or expert users alike.

Cons

Except for setting up a hint, there is no way to prevent from loosing your general password. Your passwords, notes or other information you don't want to share with others are safe with Password Agent. Due to its strong encryption feature, no one may get to your information without your password.
